Starting A New Inning
I have started a new inning in my life with my novel association with the school education. By acceding to the request to join as chairman of Vidya Bhavan Public School, Guna, I have plunged into school education from nursery to class 12. I already had good fortune to get the golden opportunity of experiencing and learning the higher education as Vice Chancellor of Malawanchal University, Indore for over seven years and now as a member of its Governing Body. The chairman of Guna Education Society and my friend Sunil Khanduja offered me this opportunity, which I accepted after some hang back. I now realise that this opportunity has given a new direction and energy to my life
The importance of school education is self evident. No magnificent building was ever erected without a solid foundation. The contribution of teachers in developing the personality of children is of extreme importance. With this conviction I put my first step in the school and called a meeting of all the teachers and told them about my ideas of school education and teaching. However, before speaking to the teachers, I had done my spade work. Firstly, I recollected my own childhood memories of school and sorted out those moments which I think made me better understand the world. Personal experience conveys the best in the life. Secondly, I was fortunate that during Covid period for almost two years, I carefully listened to the online classes of my two granddaughters. That gave me a fair idea of the latest pedagogy of primary and middle level education. Thirdly, before going to Guna I studied about the different aspects of the school education. I also read the New Education Policy for school. According to this policy, now the education of a child starts at three years age, and the school education is divided into 6+3+3+4 years phases from Nursery to Class 12. I felt that the most difficult teaching is of Nursery, first and second classes as it requires teachers of great skill and patience. After my reflection and study, I ventured to enter the school and addressed the teachers.
Now my sole objective is to improve the quality of education of my school and provide an environment to every child to fully develop her personality. This intent has given me a fresh meaning and ardour to my life.
