Bukhara- A Great City
In these pictures from Bukhara, we are in front of Miri Arab Madrasah and in a medieval market place. In one pic we are in a photo shoot of an Uzbek couple.
Bukhara is an ancient city with immense historical, cultural, and spiritual significance in central Asia. It was a major centre of poets and Islamic scholars. It is closer to Iran and therefore has a visible Persian impact. Tajik is also spoken here along with Uzbek, which is less Turkik than Tashkent.
Ismoil Somoniy Mausaleum is world-famous architectural masterpiece and was built at the close of the ninth century. Chashma Ayub Mausoleum can be translated ( from Bible ) as Saint Job’s Water Source. Legend has it that Ayub struck the ground with his stick, making a source of crystal clear water in the desert. Bolo-Khauz Complex is the only preserved monument on the Registan Square. We saw well maintained old monuments Kalyan Minaret, Kalyan Mosque, Miri-Arab Madrasah, Magoki-Attori Mosque & Madrasah of Ulugbek & Abdul Aziz Khan, Lyabi-Khauz Ensemble, Chor-Minor Madrasah.
Bukhara has architecturally significant well – preserved ancient buildings, mosques, and madrasahs.
Situated at old Silk Road, Bukhara had been Capital of various empires like Sogdian, Samanid, Ghaznavid, and Timurid. It was home to renowned scholars, theologians, and philosophers and Naqshbandi Sufism. It was also centre of Islamic studies, architecture, craftsmanship and trade.
The visit to Bukhara is a great satisfaction for my inquisitive urge.

एन के त्रिपाठी आई पी एस सेवा के मप्र काडर के सेवानिवृत्त अधिकारी हैं। उन्होंने प्रदेश मे फ़ील्ड और मुख्यालय दोनों स्थानों मे महत्वपूर्ण पदों पर सफलतापूर्वक कार्य किया। प्रदेश मे उनकी अन्तिम पदस्थापना परिवहन आयुक्त के रूप मे थी और उसके पश्चात वे प्रतिनियुक्ति पर केंद्र मे गये। वहाँ पर वे स्पेशल डीजी, सी आर पी एफ और डीजीपी, एन सी आर बी के पद पर रहे।
वर्तमान मे वे मालवांचल विश्वविद्यालय, इंदौर के कुलपति हैं। वे अभी अनेक गतिविधियों से जुड़े हुए है जिनमें खेल, साहित्यएवं एन जी ओ आदि है। पठन पाठन और देशा टन में उनकी विशेष रुचि है।
